Where to advertise your TN

Ian MacLaren of the Birmingham Talking Newspaper Association writes:

At the TNF conference in Peterborough in September 2011, I promised to compile a schedule of places that could be contacted to help make your community more aware of your TN and the work you do. The following was compiled at my seminar and will hopefully give some pointers of where to start to make others more aware:-

* Local Libraries
* Mobile Libraries (Libraries at Home service)
* Council Visually Impaired Unit
* Local Society for the Blind/Resource Centre
* Local Newspaper Articles
* Your own website
* Hospital Eye Departments/Clinics
* University Ophthalmology Departments/Clinics
* Social Clubs and those who help run them.
* Festivals
* Local Exhibitions of Charities in your district
* Collections/Awareness Days in local Shopping Centre
* Large Supermarket Noticeboards
* Visually Impaired Clubs
* Opticians particularly those providing specialised glaucoma and diabetic screening tests
* Hospital Radio
* Day Centres
* Articles in other charities newsletters
* District Nurse network
* Doctors Surgeries
* Care Agencies
* Retirement and Rest Home
* Village Noticeboards
* Meals on Wheels Service

* Local RNIB/Action for Blind People offices – see websites
* Healthcare at Home  - see website www.hah.co.uk
* Church Parish Magazines
* Macular Disease Society Local Clubs – see website www.maculardisease.org

* Citizens Advice Bureaux
* Neighbourhood Offices
* British Legion Clubs
* Local Radio

The above list is in no way exhaustive but just a few ideas that were put together at my seminar.

Good Luck in recruiting new listeners.
