Local radio may give general local information, but nothing other than a TN can give the everyday content of the local newspaper to a visually handicapped person (unless it is read it to him or her personally).
ARRANGE DUMMY RUNSOrganise trial runs under simulated working conditions on the actual day(s) of the week to be used, to give experience to as many people as possible. These runs can be a good way of maintaining the interest of the volunteers during the period before the service commences, and provide an opportunity for testing voices under operating conditions. Persons with unsuitable voices should be kindly, but firmly, directed to other teams. If they are only interested in the 'ego trip' of reading, and refuse to assist in other areas, perhaps you would be better off without them anyway!
SIMPLIFY THE PROBLEMSMany problems that arise are interconnected but can be resolved when you consider the whole picture. Go to » link 5 for a better understanding of problems that may need to be resolved.
HOLD INAUGURAL MEETINGYou are ready to go. An Inaugural Meeting will provide another opportunity for publicity. Invite a well known local personality and this will ensure good newspaper coverage. Remember to tell the local paper before the event!!
START THE SERVICEAnd accept our best wishes for its success.Page 10 of 141 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 «Previous Next» 12 13 14
