Welcome to Northampton Sound News
County or Region: Northamptonshire
Area covered: Northampton and the surrounding area. We also distribute Kettering and Corby talking newspapers.
Name: Northampton Sound News
What we do:
Sound News Talking Newspaper records the local news and items of interest onto audio cassette, for visually impaired people. We also loan out tape recorders to recipients if needed.
Who is it for?
Our free service is available to any visually impaired person who cannot read normal small newspaper print. You do not have to be registered blind or partially sighted.
Recordings are made on standard cassettes so you do not need a special machine to listen to them. Royal Mail handle the tapes for free as First Class Post under “ARTICLES FOR THE BLIND”.
Listener subscription is free.
What is on the recording?
Sound News contains news taken from the local Chronicle & Echo newspaper for the Northampton area, together with relevant feature articles and the occasional recorded nature items. A magazine tape is also provided each week.
We also distribute copies of the Kettering and Corby talking newspapers, containing articles from the Evening Telegraph for Kettering/Corby/Oundle & District.
