Welcome to the County Durham Talking Newspaper, a free weekly resource for people with sight loss.  The news stories and features we record from our region’s papers include planning decisions, court cases, village events, regular columnists, amusing snippets and nostalgia pieces – much of it not covered by radio or television.

Each Thursday we produce a fresh 80-minute edition on CD or USB memory stick to reach listeners the next day.  The news coverage alternates: one week we cover north Durham, the next it’s south Durham’s turn – so listeners get a rolling digest of village level news on a County Durham scale.

Our sources include The Northern Echo, the Durham AdvertiserThe Sunday Post, the Teesdale Mercury, the Sunderland Echo, The Darlington & Stockton Times,  The Sunday Sun, the Sunday Post and certain magazines. We sometimes record our own interviews and we always cover the Durham Miners’ Gala with its wonderful music and comments from the crowds.
