WFive Valley Sounds Talking Newspaper
We are Stroud's Talking Newspaper, established in 1982, and cover Stroud, Stonehouse, Nailsworth, Minchinhampton, Painswick and the surrounding villages. We make audio recordings of the 'Stroud News & Journal' and send them out on a weekly basis to blind and partially-sighted people who want to stay in touch with what's going on in their local community.

The newspaper is published on a Wednesday. We have a marvellous team of volunteers who edit and read the local news, recorded by a technician, on the Wednesday. Volunteer duplicators then copy the recording onto USB sticks on Thursday morning. These sticks are sent out free of charge to those who are registered blind using the Royal Mail's 'Articles for the Blind' service. We also supply each of our listeners with a USB player, if needed, and this is also free of charge. Each of our listeners is assigned a volunteer contact who can help them get started and deal with any problems connected to the Talking Newspaper service. In addition to our recordings of 'Stroud News & Journal' we also add short stories on our USB sticks thanks to the support of local authors.

We always welcome new listeners, as well as people who would like to join our friendly group of volunteers. We are entirely dependent on donations to maintain our service so would welcome your support.

If you, or someone you know, would like to receive our recordings each week, or would like more information please contact us:
