Sheffield Talking News was established in 1988 and is a registered charity. It records around 80 minutes of news each week taken mainly from the Sheffield Star (a daily), the Sheffield Telegraph (a weekly), and the Yorkshire Post (a daily). It also puts out a general magazine four times a year, and records occasional items around the city in its 'Out and About in Sheffield' strand. Material is distributed by USB memory stick and is available online via BWBF and the TNS web player. Its output is also available via a local telephone number and now through Alexa, both thanks to TNS. The online editions also contain a recording of the Sheffield Theatres brochure detailing upcoming performances in Sheffield's three venues.

' Sheffield Talking News is also available on Amazon smart speakers by saying "Alexa, enable Sheffield Talking News.'
